Let me tell you, tattoos effing hurt. But I was a trooper, as you can see in these pictures, and I had Rob there to support me. He was such a great sport, holding all my things. :) Not a very good story teller though. Also, thank you Alex for stopping by. Perfect timing!

I am so in love with this. I really want to commend Frank for translating my idea to a tattoo. If you go back a few posts you can see my original design, and he did a good job of keeping that in mind when he drew it.

Not everyone gets why I did this (like my parents), but that’s ok. It’s really between me and Cody, and about sharing a bond between all of the people that miss him just as much as I do like Rob and the Fitzpatrick family. I love being one of the lucky ones that knew Cody well, and what a great person he was. His memory lives on in all of us, and being able to carry him on my arm gives me strength. Miss you, Cody.

So I went and got my tattoo today.. and I love it. It is simply amazing. I will definitely take some pictures tomorrow and upload them here. Cody and I were some big stars back in the day, did a little acting, no big deal. These stills of the film make me tear up every time, and everything seems to be falling into place. Love and miss you, Superman.

So I am just curious… which came first? The wolverine, or the wolverine? I find the similarities too close to be coincidence. Surely I can’t be the first to notice that wolverine’s costume is blue and yellow… come on people.

Holy smokes. I can’t believe I missed the release of this… which I guess doesn’t matter because I don’t own a DS anyway. But I thought I would take a moment to talk about how truly awesome Shantae is. For other girl gamers out there, you really should give it a try. It may be a little late to muster up your dilapidated gameboy color or advance and try to pawn the first game off ebay, but if you own a DS please give it a go. I guarantee that nothing is more fun than running around as a shape-shifting half-genie in your spare time.  BTW, the game is Shantae: Risky’s Revenge for the Nintendo DS

So, this is my tattoo. No, I did not commission a 5-year-old to draw it. Right now I’m planning on putting it on my upper arm/shoulder, and my appointment is at 5 on Thursday with Frank William at Depot Town Tattoo in Ypsilanti. I figured this was slightly more interesting than my normal daily life, so it seemed like a good time to start my blog.  The reason behind it, for those of you who don’t know, is for my friend Cody Fitzpatrick. He committed suicide in May of 2009, right before I graduated from high school. He was one of my best friends. He got me my first job at Circuit City. He introduced me to comics, Smallville, and all things Superman. He let me borrow his car once on Thanksgiving. He used to give me one of his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when I forgot my lunch. He wrote me notes during class, sometimes even in Spanish, and signed them CK for Clark Kent. He was, and still is, my hero. The day he died is my most cherished moment and my biggest regret. I am thankful that he came to my house that day, and that I was home. But I regret that I didn’t realize what was about to happen, and didn’t do anything to prevent it. So, this tattoo is for Cody, my real-life hero. He IS Superman. The banner says “You will make my strength your own.” I love this quote, it’s from Superman Returns. Jor-El says it to Superman and Superman says it to his son, Jason, at the end of the movie. I strive every day to be more like Cody.  And one question I’ve been asked in concern to getting it on my shoulder: “Do you really want a tattoo on your shoulder on your wedding day?” Answer: Yes. I do. 1. It will be difficult to find a guy dumb enough to marry me. 2. Cody is with me every day, and why would that day be any different? I don’t give a damn what others think, I’m obviously not getting it for them. :)
